Abstract
ENGLISH:
The aims of this research was to know the implementation of using cartoon video in improving students’ vocabulary achievement to the eleventh-grade students of SMK N 1 Mendo Barat. This research is a quantitative approach with experimental research that was quasi-experimental. The samples of this research were 44 students. XI-2 as an experimental group consisted of 19 students and XI-4 as a control group consisted of 25 students. The result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test in SPSS 24.
The researcher found that the experimental group showed a higher average score in the post-test than the control group. It could be seen from the result of the mean score post-test in the experimental group was (60.52) than the mean score in control group was (51.40). Then, the result of independent samples test of students’ post-test between experimental group and control group, the t-obtained in equal variances assumed was 2.251, and the significant(2-tailed) was 0.016. Since t- obtained was higher than t-table (2.251>2.018) and the significant (2-tailed) was lower than computation with level significant (0.016<0.05), the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.
Based on the fact above, it could be concluded that there was a significant difference between the students who were taught by using cartoon video and the students who were taught without using cartoon video in students’ vocabulary achievement. It means that the cartoon video significantly improved the students’ vocabulary achievement of the eleventh-grade students at SMK N 1 Mendo Barat.
