Abstract

ENGLISH:
This study aimed to discover if there was a significant difference between the students that used the one stay rest stray technique in reading comprehension skill and the students without used one stay rest stray technique at the tenth grade of MA Nurul Falah Air Mesu. This researcher used a quantitative method with quasi-experimental design. This research was conducted at MA Nurul Falah Air Mesu. The populations of this research were the Tenth grade students consisting of two classes, namely X3 and X4 classes. The samples of this research was 40 students from both classes, namely 20 students as the experimental group and 20 students as the control group. Both groups were given a pre-test and post- test focusing on narrative text to measure their reading comprehension. The data were analyzed using t-test in SPSS 26. The statistical analysis showed that the mean post-test score for the experimental group was 80.75, while the control group scored 68.19. The mean difference between the two groups was 12.10, with a standard error of 2.101. The Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0,000, and the t-obtained = 5.758, which was higher than the critical value of t-table = 2.00 at the 0.05 significance level with 38 degrees of freedom. Therefore, the Null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. This means there was a significant difference in reading comprehension skill between students taught One Stay Rest Stray technique and those who were not. In conclusion, the One Stay Rest Stray technique is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension skill
