Abstract

ENGLISH:
This study was conducted to find out the effectiveness of implementing Conversation Video to improve students’ listening comprehension. The population of this research consisted of 103 and 70 sample purposively taken by research. The data collection was done by using test, observation and documentations. After implementing the experiment by using Conversation Video to the experimental group, it could be inferred that students who were taught using Conversation Video seemed to be comfortable and enjoyed learning listening comprehension. There was an evidence progress in students’ listening comprehension after receiving treatment. The result of the experimental group showed that the mean score between pre-test and post-test in experimental group was 21.00000, standard deviation was 9.21954, standard error mean was 1.55839, the degree of freedom (df) was 34, and the significant (2 tailed) was 0.000, t-obtain (t) was 17.3298 higher than the critical value of t-table (2.000) with the significant level of 0.05. It could be concluded that there was a significant difference between the result of an experimental group on the pre-test and post-test who were taught by using Conversation Video as a learning media. Besides, based on the independent sample t-test, it was found out that the mean difference of post-test in experimental and control group was 14.429, the standard error of difference was 2.046, the significant level (2-tailed) was 0,000, t-obtained (t) was 7.052, and the degree freedom (df) was a 68. Due to the output of t-obtained (t) was 7.052 higher than critical value of t-table (2.000). In conclusion, the implementation of Conversation Video as a learning media was effective in improving the eleventh-grade students’ listening comprehension at SMA Setiabudi Sungailiat.
