Abstract
ENGLISH:
The aims of this research were to describe the implementation of using photograph to improve students’ writing skill in recount text of 8 grade SMPN 3 Toboali and to find out the significant differences between students’ who were taught and students who were not taught by using photograph on students’ writing skill of 8 grade SMPN 3 Toboali.
The study was limited by the syllabus of the school. Based on their book. The study focused on the students’ life experienced theme. This research used quasi-experimental design. The samples of this research was 60 students of class VIII that were taken by using Slovin formulate technique. The data were obtained from the writing test and the result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test in SPSS 25.
The results showed that student taught using photograph as media obtained higher scores compared to students taught using non-photograph as media. This means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It can be concluded that there was significant difference between students taught using photograph and students taught without using photograph as media and it can be conclude that the photograph could be a media in teaching and learning writing.
