ENGLISH:
The aim of this research was to identify the students’ error in writing descriptive text using simple present tense. This research focused to find the types of error in the descriptive writing using simple present tense made by the eighth-grade students of MTs Negeri 2 Bangka Barat, and to find the dominant errors in the writing descriptive text using simple present tense.

This research used descriptive quantitative method. The samples of this research were 27 students of class VIII A that were taken by using total sampling technique. The data were obtained from the writing test and interview about descriptive text.

The findings of this research showed that there were four types of errors found in students’ descriptive text with the total of 131 errors consisting of 81 omission errors, 15 addition errors, 20 misformation errors, and 15 misordering errors. The dominant errors in this research were omission error with the percentage was 61,83%.
