Abstract

ENGLISH: This research was aimed to discover a significant difference by comparing
samples who got a treatment by using Instagram as a learning media and those who were not in the eighth grade of SMP N 6 Sungaiselan. It also wanted to discover Instagram effect as a learning media on samples English Vocabulary achievement.

This study adopted a quasi-experimental design. 54 students were included in the sample from two classes, with 27 placed as experimental group and 27 as control group. Pre-test and post-test procedures were used by researcher to assess students' vocabulary achievement. The test was analyzed by SPSS 24. The observation’s outcome revealed, Instagram as a learning media gained the students’ enthusiast, motivated, and improved their vocabulary achievement.

The research found that the mean in experimental class (Mean= 68.85) was higher compared to control class (Mean=54.96). In conclusion the Instagram application significantly improved the students’ vocabulary achievement of the 8th grade students at SMP N 6 Sungaiselan.
