Abstract

ENGLISH:

This study aim to discovered if there was a significant difference between the students that used fix up strategy in reading comprehension achievement narrative text and the students without used used fix up strategy in reading comprehension achievement at the tenth grade of SMKN 1 Simpangkatis. The limitation of the study focused finding main idea, knowing vocabulary and using vocabulary knowledge for effective reading. This researcher used a quantitative method with quasi-experimental design. The researcher conducted observations with purposive sampling method and multiple choices tests that were given to the students determine the experimental group used fix up strategy in reading comprehension achievement and control group which is those that do not used fix up strategy in reading comprehension achievement

The observation of research showed that claas X TO2 had a lower score than class X SM2. Therefore, class X TO2 as the experimental class and class class X SM2 as the control class with a total sample of 60. The findings of this research showed an improve in students reading comprehension achievement when learning used Fix up strategy. The test result of the experimental class pre-test 41.13 and post-test 74.12.

For the control group class with the results of the pre-test 43.10 and post-test 70.43, with a total sample of 60 students. With t-obtained 2241 greater than the t- table was 2.00. for its 2-tailed significance 0,19 have less score than 0,05. So, it can be concluded that from the statistical analysis, the experimental group was greater performed than the control group. It can be seen that the experimental group mean post test 74.12, while the control group post-test mean was 70.43
