Abstract
ENGLISH:
The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of grade VIII students of SMPN 1 Mendo Barat in writing descriptive text using the implementation of interactive writing technique and also to find out whether there is a significant influence by comparing samples that use interactive writing technique and those that do not use interactive writing technique. This study used a quantitative approach that focused on experimental research using a quasi-experimental design.
The researcher used purposive sampling technique and two classes were taken as samples, totaling 50 students, with 25 students as the experimental group and 25 students as the control group. Five important components were focused within the scope of this study to measure students' writing outcomes: content, organization, vocabulary, grammar, and mechanics.
The test results were analyzed using Paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test statistical analysis in SPSS 26. The results showed that students taught using interactive writing technique obtained higher scores compared to students taught using non-interactive writing technique. This means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference between students taught using interactive writing technique and students taught without using interactive writing technique.
