Abstract
ENGLISH:
This thesis aims to improve students’ vocabulary achievement through board race game at Mts An-Najah Petaling. The purpose of this research was to determine whether or not the use of board race game improve students’ vocabulary achievement. In this study, the researcher used the quantitative method with quasi experimental group design. The samples of this study consisted of 25 students of VII A as Experimental Group and 25 students of VII B as Control Group taken from the first year students of seventh classes of Mts An-Najah Petaling. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26. The result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of Paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. Based on the result analysis, there were two major findings, namely (1) the implementation of Board Race Game to improve students’ vocabulary achievement was good, (2) based on Paired Sample T-Test, it could be seen that the mean difference of pre- test, and post-test in experimental group was 29.880, while the mean difference of pre-test and post-test in control group was 23.880. In addition, the result of difference analysis in post-test of experimental and control group showed that the value of t obtained was 4.896 which exceed the critical value of t-table 2.01 (at the significant level p< 0.05 in two tailed testing with degree of freedom 48). It means that the null hypothesis was rejected and the research hypothesis was accepted. The result of this study revealed that the post-test scores were better than the pre- test scores of experimental groups. It could be seen by comparing their means. The mean of the pre-test scores was (56.00) while the mean of the post-test scores was (85.88). In line with the result, the writer suggests that the Board Race Game was one of the effective methods to improve students’ enthusiasm in learning English and developing students’ vocabulary.
