Abstract
The objective of the study were (1) to know what are the students problems in learning speaking at MTs Nurul Yaqin (2) to find out what are the factors makes the students have problems in learning speaking. In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative method. The techniques for collecting data are questionnaire and interview. The result of questionnaire was analyzed by means of average. The samples of this study consisted of 51 students’ for questionnaire and 6 students’ for interview at MTs Nurul Yaqin Tanah Bawah Puding Besar. (1) The result of this research are the students’ in that school have a problem in speaking, especially in linguistic and nonlinguistic problems. In linguistic problems they had high criteria it means this problems is serious, so the teacher should pay more attention to the students’. In non-linguistic problems they had medium criteria, but the teacher should pay attention because it will continue to serious problem. (2) Then, the researcher found the students’ had some factors causing the problems in speaking, there are lack of self-confident and low motivation. Finally, the researcher suggests the teacher should make the learning process more fun, interesting and give the students’ motivation. For the students, they should more active in class and more practice speaking in daily life.
