Penelitian ini menyangkut tentang profesionalisme guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam meningkatkan pembelajaran PAI dan Budi Pekerti peserta didik kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Toboali bahwa SMP Negeri 1 Toboali terkhusus peserta didik kelas VIII memiliki kualitas pembelajaran yang maksimal. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata peserta didik dan latar belakang guru yang sudah memenuhi kualifikasi sebagai guru, pengalaman mengajar yang mumpuni, aktif mengikuti MGMP serta pelatihan-pelatihan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat profesionalisme guru Pendidikan Agama Islam, implementasi pembelajaran PAI dan Budi Pekerti peserta didik, serta faktor pendukung dan faktor penghambat profesionalisme guru.
Penelitian yang dilakukan bersifat deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, waka kuriklum, guru Pendidikan Agama Islam, dan peserta didik kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Toboali. Dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian dilakukan dengan tahapan reduksi data, penyadian data, dan verifikasi data.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa profesionalisme guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam meningkatkan pembelajaran PAI dan Budi Pekerti di SMP Negeri 1 Toboali sudah dilaksanakan dengan baik dan maksimal. Hal ini ditunjukkan sebagaimana hasil analisis peneliti dengan indikasi; guru sudah memenuhi syarat kualifikasi Sarjana Perguruan Tinggi S1 sebagai guru Pendidikan Agama Islam, memiliki sertifikat pendidik, guru aktif mengikuti pelatihan-pelatihan terkait dengan profesionalisme mengajar, memiliki pengalaman mengajar yang mumpuni, guru sudah profesional dibidangnya yakni mampu memahami dan menyesuaikan kemampuan peserta didik, menguasai berbagai administrasi kependidikan, melaksanakan pembelajaran berbasis kompetensi dengan menggunakan model, strategi, dan metode yang tepat, mampu menciptakan suasana belajar yang menyenangkan, dan memiliki semangat yang tinggi dalam mengabdikan ilmunya.

This research concerns the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education teachers in improving the learning of PAI and Characteristics of Grade VIII students at Toboali 1 Public Middle School that Toboali 1 Public Middle School, especially Grade VIII students, has the maximum quality of learning. This is evidenced by the average score of students and the background of teachers who have met the qualifications as teachers, qualified teaching experience, actively participated in MGMP and training. This study aims to look at the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education teachers, the implementation of PAI learning and the ethics of students, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors for teacher professionalism.
The research conducted is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Informants in this study were school principals, deputy curricula, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Toboali. With data collection techniques using observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis in this study was carried out using the stages of data reduction, data encoding, and data verification.
The results of this study indicate that the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education teachers in improving Islamic Religious Education and Moral Education learning at SMP Negeri 1 Toboali has been carried out properly and maximally. This is shown as the results of the analysis of researchers with indications; the teacher meets the qualification requirements for a bachelor's degree in higher education as an Islamic Religious Education teacher, has an educator certificate, the teacher actively participates in training related to teaching professionalism, has qualified teaching experience, the teacher is professional in his field, namely being able to understand and adjust the abilities of students, mastering various educational administrations, carrying out competency-based learning using appropriate models, strategies and methods, able to create a pleasant learning atmosphere, and has a high enthusiasm in devoting his knowledge.
