The aim of this study was to determine whether there is a significant difference between eighth-grade students at SMPN 3 Pangkalan Baru who received using the Literacy Activity and those who were not, as well as to explain how the strategy was implemented in the experimental class. This research utilized a quasi-experimental design within a quantitative research framework. The study was conducted at SMPN 3 Pangkalan Baru, involving two eighth-grade classes, VIII A and VIII B. A total of 54 students participated, with 27 students in the experimental group and 27 students in the control group. Purposive sampling was applied, based on the results of a preliminary test. Analysis of the experimental group’s pre-test and post-test results revealed a mean difference of 2.037, with a standard error of 2.181, according to the results of the independent sample t-test. 0.035 was the two-tailed significance value, the t there were 52 degrees of freedom and the value was 2.934. Because the significant (t-tailed) is 0.031 lower than the calculation with a significant level of 0.05, and the t result of 2.934 is higher than the critical value of the t-table 1.674, it can be confirmed that there is a significant difference in experimental and control group. Consequently, the null hypothesis (H0) is disproved and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.
