Abstract
INDONESIA:
Tesis ini menganalisis pembentukan karakter religius siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) di Kecamatan Mentok yang dilatarbelakangi oleh tantangan pendidikan karakter di era modern, di mana pengaruh teknologi dan lingkungan luar seringkali bertentangan dengan nilai-nilai religius yang diajarkan di sekolah.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus untuk mendapatkan pemahaman mendalam tentang praktik internalisasi yang dilakukan di sekolah, strategi sekolah dalam pembentukan karakter religius, hingga bentuk karakter religius yang tercermin dalam kepribadian siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan guru Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI), kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah, dokumentasi serta observasi di lingkungan sekolah.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) proses kegiatan internalisasi di SMP Kecamatan Mentok berfokus pada empat strategi utama yaitu, pembiasaan kegiatan religius, literasi Al-Qur’an, pemberian nasehat, peneladanan. Setiap strategi memiliki tahapan internalisasi yakni tahap transformasi nilai, transaksi nilai dan transinternalisasi nilai. Perlu evaluasi berkelanjutan agar proses internalisasi nilai-nilai ajaran Islam berjalan efektif. (2) Pembentukan karakter religius siswa SMP di kecamatan mentok dimulai dengan fokus pada nilai moral serta kesesuaian dengan perkembangan usia. Selain itu, bentuk karakter religius yang tercermin dalam kepribadian siswa diantaranya kebiasaan ibadah, akhlak mulia dalam kehidupan sehari-hari serta kepedulian sosial dan toleransi antar sesama. Ketiga bentuk karakter tersebut tidak lepas dari kesatuan proses Moral Knowing, Moral Loving dan Moral Doing. Adanya penyimpangan dan ketidakpatuhan menunjukkan bahwa upaya penguatan karakter religius perlu dilakukan secara konsisten. Ditemukan faktor pendukung berupa keteladanan guru, pimpinan sekolah dan tenaga kependidikan yang menjadi model prilaku religius, lingkungan sekolah yang kondusif dan bernuansa Islami, pembiasaan kegiatan religius yang terjadwal dan berkesinambungan. Sedangkan faktor penghambatnya berupa pengaruh teknologi dan lingkungan luar sekolah, fasilitas ibadah yang belum memadai di beberapa sekolah, dukungan keluarga dan komunitas serta kurangnya motivasi diri siswa.

This thesis analyzes shaping the religious character of junior high school students in Mentok through is motivated by the challenges of character education in the modern era, where the influence of technology and the external environment often conflicts with the religious values have been taught in schools.
This study uses a qualitative approach using a case study method to get a depth understanding of the internalization practices wich are carried out in schools, the school’s stratey in forming religious character, and form of religious character reflected in students’ personalities. Data were collected through interviews with Islamic Education teachers, principals, vice-principals, documentation, observation in the school environment.
The research’s results indicate that (1) the process of internalization activities in Junior High Schools in Mentok focuses on four main strategies. They are habituation of religious activities, Qur'anic literacy, providing advice, and role modeling. Each strategy has stages of internalization. They are the stage of value transformation, value transaction, and value transinternalization. Continuous evaluation is necessary for the process of internalizing values to be effective. (2) The formation of students' religious character in Junior High Schools in Mentok begins with a focus on moral values and suitability with developmental age. Furthermore, the forms of religious character is reflected in students' personalities include prayer habits, noble morals in daily life, and social concern and tolerance among others. These three forms of character are inseparable from all of the process of Moral Knowing, Moral Loving, and Moral Doing. Supporting factors were found include the role modeling of teachers, school leaders, and educational staff who serve as models of religious behavior, a conducive and Islamic school environment, and habituation of scheduled and continuous religious activities. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors include the influence of technology and the external environment, inadequate worship facilities in some schools, lack of family and community support, and lack of students' self-motivation.
