Abstract
Bangka Island has a long history in the process of Islamization, which began in the 17th century. Historians have different opinions regarding the exact time of Islam's entry into Bangka, but there are several main routes that became the gateway for the spread of Islam on this island, namely: Arabia, the Johor Route (Malaysia) in the 14th century, the Minangkabau Route, the Banten Route, the Palembang Sultanate Route, and the Banjar Route (South Kalimantan). Along with the process of Islamization, surau-surau were established as places of worship and centers for the development of Islam in various villages in Bangka.
This study aims to detect the existence of surau-surau in the West Bangka Regency area through maps issued in 1916-1935, so that the number can be known during that period, namely 33 spread across villages in the West Bangka area.
