Abstract
ENGLISH :
The aims of this study were to describe the implementation of Fan-n-Pick Card in improving students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text between the student who were taught by using Fan-n-pick cards and of those who were not taught by using non Fan-n-Pick Cards of the eight grade students. The population this study consisted of 51 students and all of them were taken as the sample. The research used observational sheet, test and documentation in collecting the data. The result of the experimental group a showed that the mean between pre-test and post-test in experimental group was 19.6923, standard deviation was 11.91896, standard error mean was 2.33750. the degree of freedom (df) was a 25, the significant level (2 tailed) was 0.000, and t-obtained (t) for 8.425 was higher than t-table (2.00) with the significant level of 0.05, thus there was a significant difference between the result of pre-test and post-test. Based on the process of applying Fan-n-Pick Cards to the experimental group, it could be inferred that students who were taught using Fan-n-Pick Cards felt comfortable and enjoyed learning reading comprehension. There was an evidence progress in students’ reading comprehension after receiving treatment. Based on the independent sample t-test, it was found out the mean difference of students post-test in experimental and control group was 7.731, the standard error of difference was 1.547, the significant level (2-tailed) was 0.000, t-obtained (t) was 4.996, and degree freedom (df) was a 49. Due to p-output or significant (t-tailed) was 0.000, and t-obtained (t) was 5.021 higher than 2.00 of critical value of t-table. It could be concluded that Fan-n-Pick Cards was effective in improving the eight grade students’ reading compehension at MTsN 1 Kelapa.
