Abstract
This study aims to see the application of sharia compliance in the halal tourism industry in West Nusa Tenggara and West Sumatra, as the two leading provinces in halal tourism industry in Indonesia. The research methodology used in this study was a descriptive qualitative methodology with in-depth interviews as data collection instruments. The findings of this study showed the supervision of sharia compliance in West Nusa Tenggara has been regulated by regional regulation No. 2 of 2016. Otherwise in West Sumatra, it was still in form of a draft of a regional regulation and there was also a fatwa from the Indonesian Ulema Council No. 108 of 2016 which must be obeyed by all halal tourism industry. The similarity between the two provinces is that the strength of local culture which is based on religiosity also takes part in controlling the supervision of sharia compliance in the halal tourism industry
