Abstract

ENGLISH:

The objectives of this study were, 1) To know the implementation of using blog in increasing students’ ability to write recount texts at SMPN 2 Namang. 2) To find out was there any significant difference in writing recount text between students who were taught by using blog and that of those who were not taught by using blog at SMPN 2 Namang. This research applied quantitative approach and used quasi-experimental design. The population was taken 82 students from all students of the eighth grade of SMPN 2 Namang academic year 2023/2024. Purposive sampling was applied as sampling technique. The number of samples in this research was 52 students with 25 students placed as experimental group and 29 as control group.

The technique of data collection of this present research was pre-test & post-test, observation, and documentation. The data was analyzed using SPSS 22 for windows. The result of the test was analyzed by using statistical analysis of paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. Based on the result analysis, the observation outcome revealed, the use of blog gained the students participation, cooperation and comprehension aspect.

The result of this study provided that the post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores in experimental group. It could be seen by looking at the result of t-obtained that higher than t-table. The value of t-obtained was 23.569, the t-table was 1.6752. The researcher found out that the mean in experimental group 74.92, was higher than control group 72.38. In line with the result, the researcher suggests that blog was one of the practical methods to develop students’ writing ability.
