Abstract
ENGLISH:
The goal of this study was to discover a significant difference between students of the eighth grade at SMP N 3 Jebus who got treatments by using Wattpad App and those who were not. It also wanted to discover whether Wattpad App could effect students in improving their reading skill. This study used quasi-experimental design which is part of quantitative method. This study was conducted at SMP N 3 Jebus. The population was eighth grade that consisted of two classes, namely VIII A and VIII B. There were 32 students as the sample from both of classes: 20 students for the experimental group and 12 students for the control group. In this study, the technique of sampling that researcher used was non-probability sampling more specifically used saturation sampling. The researcher used this technique because the number of population was not too much. Three areas of this study's scope were restricted: finding out the main idea, vocabulary knowledge, and to making inferences. The researcher used pre-test and post-test procedures to assess students’ reading skills. SPSS 26 was used to analyze the test. The researcher also used observation sheet in the percentage form to see students’ participation, cooperation, and comprehension. The researcher also used documentation. The research found that the mean comparison between experimental and control group was 71.16 and 60.67. In conclusion, there was a significant effect on students’ reading skills by using Wattpad App.
