This study aimed to find out if there would be any significant improvement on students’ vocabulary after the teaching of vocabulary using audiovisual media process at SMP Negeri 4 Belinyu. The researcher used Quasi-experimental method and data collection was based on a pre-test and post-test. The pre-test and post-test was used to measure the two classes students class 8.1 and 8.2 both consisted of 31 students respectively, to know how far progress that they had made before and after the teaching process in term of their vocabulary mastery, and to see if there was any significant difference in results for both groups. In addition, it was used to determine if audiovisual media was effective to use in teaching vocabulary. It wasfound that there was a significant improvement on students’ vocabulary from the
experimental group who received treatment of audiovisual media. In the experimental group, the mean of pre-test scores was 28.83, while the mean of post�test scores was 85.03. This proved that the use of Audiovisual media was successful in increasing students’ vocabulary. However, the researcher also found that there was no significant different in overall results of the teaching vocabulary in both groups. Anyhow, this matter would be an interesting topic for future research. In conclusion, it was concluded that the audiovisual media was an appropriate, fun, engaging and very useful in teaching vocabulary.
