Abstract
ENGLISH:
The research aims to known about the effect of greeting card media on students’ ability in writing descriptive text and any significant differences in writing ability between students’ who are taught with greeting card media and students’ who are taught without greeting card media of eighth grade students in junior high school. The limitations of the research focused on improving students’ writing descriptive text about describing place and five aspects of writing.
The research used quantitative method with quasi experimental design. The samples used in study was the 8th grade students of MTs Al-Islam Kemuja as
many as 54 students. The research conducted purposive sampling method and showed that class VIII E had lower score than class VIII C. Therefore, class VIII E as the experimental group and class VIII C as the control group. The researchused a written test as a data collection technique. In the technique of analyzing the
data, the research used t-test was in the form of paired sample t-test to test the hypothesis through the SPSS statistic 24 programs.
The findings of the research showed an improve in students' writing descriptive text when they used greeting card media. The test results of the experimental group were pre-test 43.01 and post-test 85.13. Whereas, the results of the control group were pre-test 59.82 and post-test 78.75, with a total sample 54 students. The result of t-obtained 5.712 greater than the t-table 2.007. The result of 2-tailed significance 0,00 have less score than 0,05. Thus, it can be concluded that from the statistical analysis, the experimental group was greater performed than the control group
