Abstract
ENGLISH:
The objective of the study was to find out the correlation between self efficacy and their writing ability, frequently used of questionnaire and writing test. The samples of this study were students of XI grade of MAN 1 Pangkalpinang. This study used two instruments for collecting data, first was self efficacy questionnaire was distributed to the students in the form of closed questionnaire.The aim of the self efficacy questionnaires were to find out the students‟ self efficacy score, frequently used and writing test. Second, writing test was conducted to measure students‟ writing ability.
Then, the researcher analyzed the correlation by using Pearson Product Moment formula to correlate both variables self efficacy (X) and students‟ writing ability (Y). The result showed that self efficacy was correlation to students‟ writing ability. The result of applying the rxy distribution showed that the coefficient correlation was 0.502 and value at the significant level 5%. It meant that there were significant correlation between self efficacy and students‟ writing ability of MAN 1 Pangkalpinang.
After that, the frequently used of self efficacy questionnaire of XI grade of MAN 1 Pangkalpinang was general practices leading. There were
24 students in general practices leading. 9 students were in verbal persuasion and 6 students also were in vicarious experience. The most students had general practices leading. Therefore, the researcher found that, the best prediction of self efficacy was general practices leading. General practices leding had coefficient correlation 0.403, and verbal persuasion and vicarious experience were 0.387 and -0.032. The student had self efficacy of XI grade of MAN 1 Pangkalpinang was 32 students. So, the researcher found that self efficacy had positive correlation to students‟ writing ability. Based on the result of the study, the researcher suggested that in teaching writing, the teachers should recognize the students‟ self efficacy to enrich their writing ability.
